Deep expertise across systems

Grounded knowledge of all the systems that make nations grow. At Riva, everything starts with the belief that strong nations are built on strong public services. We've spent decades at the intersection of water, finance, sanitation, public health, climate, and governance. We’ve innovated and implemented, building an evidence base that’s unique and unmatched. Our expertise goes beyond technical know-how. We know how to help people achieve their fundamental human rights. We understand how national systems function, fail, and transform. We bring that intelligence to bear wherever it’s needed, from rural districts to presidential offices.

Practical capabilities

The capacity to develop policy, finance and strategy to deliver lasting change. Knowing what needs to change is only the beginning. Making it happen in a way that sticks, that's locally owned, and doesn't fall apart when a project ends, demands something different. We've spent decades carrying out root-cause analysis, building solutions from evidence, and forming relationships to make them land. We work at every level of each system: with heads of state, government ministers, civil servants, institutional and service leaders, wealth generators and citizens.

A transformational systems approach

Leadership as usual won't build the nations people deserve. We help galvanise the political will and local momentum that makes transformation irreversible – from district offices to the global stage.

Our approach

Where we work

Our members work across Africa, Asia and Europe – each bringing systems knowledge to where it's needed most. And our landmark One For All partnership with Water For People extends our reach and influence.

Whereas earlier contracts mainly focused on maintaining and expanding services, what makes this contract (with Riva) different is its stronger emphasis on institutional strengthening. It covers areas such as sustainability and long-term performance, operational efficiency and financial viability, regulatory compliance and customer service. It also introduces refined performance targets and clearer accountability mechanisms
