Wambui Gichuri

IRC announced on 20 October 2022 that Wambui Gichuri will be the new chairperson of IRCWASH's Supervisory Board, and started the role in May 2023. Ms Gichuri had a stellar career with the World Bank and the African Development Bank; her last post being Acting Vice-President for Agriculture, Human and Social Development. She joined the Supervisory Board in 2021 and succeeded Dr Robert Bos, who had served since 2016. Ms Gichuri now becomes Chair of the Riva Global Network Board and Riva Netherlands.  

In her role of Acting Vice President of the Agriculture, Human and Social Development Complex at the African Development Bank Group, she was responsible for the Bank's strategy, lending and other activities in agriculture, water and sanitation, education, and health, as well as the bank-wide work on employment and gender equity. Prior to joining the African Development Bank, Wambui worked at the World Bank in various capacities including as Water Practice Manager in Latin America and the Caribbean region as well as in the Africa region. Wambui Gichuri joined IRC's Supervisory Board in 2021.
